Work Hours: 80 hours per pay period (8:00 am - 4:30 pm)


Summary:  The Long Term Care Infection Preventionist is responsible for the oversight of the infection prevention and control program (IPCP), which includes, at a minimum, the following elements: A system for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and other individuals providing services under a contractual arrangement based upon the facility assessment and following accepted national standards; Written standards, policies, and procedures for the program; When and how isolation should be used for a resident; The circumstances under which the facility must prohibit employees with a communicable disease or infected skin lesions from direct contact with residents or their food, if direct contact will transmit the disease; and The hand hygiene procedures to be followed by staff involved in direct resident contact.

Education and/or Experience: RN or LPN degree required. Must have or be willing to complete within 3 months of hire, the specialized training in infection prevention and control as specified in F880 of Appendix PP in the CMS State Operations Manual. Must work at least part-time at the facility. Two or more years of experience in long term care and/or supervisor experience.  Has experience with Microsoft Office and basic PC experience.
