Position Highlights
Summary
- The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, is responsible to administer specified evaluations, conduct general activity programs, and assist in implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients and patient groups. Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment team.
General Hours of Work
- Primarily daytime hours
Education and/or Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent from accredited occupational therapy assistant school. Bi-lingual experience preferred but not required.
Certificate, Licenses, Registrations
- IA Occupational Therapist Assistant Certification required. Must obtain CPR certification within 3 months of hire date. This position requires a valid driver’s license and must carry their own automobile liability insurance.
Essential Functions
- Provides input on evaluation as appropriate under supervision of a staff occupational therapist.
- Plan treatment programs with immediate supervisor.
- Assist in identifying goals, determining treatment priorities and selecting appropriate treatment media.
- Execute treatment programs under supervision of staff therapist.
- Coordinate programs with other therapists.
- Prepare documentation as by the department, such as input on evaluation results, treatment plans, progress reports and patient attendance records.
- Communicate observations, facts, and comments with interdisciplinary team members, individually and through team meeting participation.
- Maintains departmental policies and procedures and quality assurance programs.
- Assist with staff/student on the job training/orientation.
- Provides monitoring of assigned student interns.
- Recommends and develop new services within the scope of hospital resources.
- Assists in the maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
