$3,000 for Full-time (minimum of 72 hours/pp)/$2,500 for Part-time Sign On/Retention Bonus
- The Long Term Care Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) provides direct care for the Long-Term Care residents that follows the Care Plan and assists each resident to achieve and maintain the highest level of health and physical condition.
General Hours of Work
- 4, 8, 9 hour shift (weekend & holiday involvement) (9:00 pm - 6:30 am every 3rd weekend only)
Education and/or Experience
- Completion of 75 hour C.N.A. course preferred. Prefer high school diploma or GED. Prior related work experience preferred. Attends 12 hours of in-service training yearly.
Certificate, Licenses, Registrations
- Certified as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Iowa required. CPR certification preferred.
Essential Functions
- Communicates effectively with residents, families, and coworkers to protect and promote each resident’s dignity, individuality and rights.
- Assesses patient’s daily needs and treatments. This includes obtaining and recording vital signs, height, weight, assessing need for assistance with or independence in dressing needs, bathing, eating, and ambulation. The CNA conducts the assessments in consideration for the patient’s choice, privacy, dignity, and independence. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, they provide input in the care planning process.
- Provides or assists the patient with daily needs and treatments in accordance with established policy and procedure. This includes assisting patients with bathing and dressing needs, shaving, oral, hygiene, bed making, transferring into and out of bed, repositioning, toileting needs, serving and collecting food trays, encouraging and/or assisting with feeding, answering call lights, insuring a clean environment, transporting patients upon admission and dismissal, assisting with ambulation and orienting/reorientating of patients to the facility environment to insure patient safety.
- Performs or assists patients in performing specific medical care activities in accordance with established policy and procedure to contribute to the patient’s plan of care. This includes assisting patients in performing restorative exercises, collecting specimens administering enemas, bowel and bladder training, assessing and documenting completed cares, intake and output, baths, dietary intake/calorie counts on flow sheets while providing important feedback to nursing staff immediately on status or changes in patient conditions, pain management, and other important concerns.
- Performs safety and infection control procedures to insure a safe, clean environment for patients and staff. This includes understanding and following established policy and procedures related to fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plan, universal precautions, infection control procedures, hazardous and chemical communication program.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the strategic and operational plans of the facility and actively supports these on a daily basis and as a part of this involvement actively supports all facility functions.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
